Welcome to the Ciudadanos Europeos de Mojácar. We are working to make Mojácar a better place to live. To do that, we have formed a political party which will be presented to the public on Saturday, March 17th at the Parador Hotel on Mojácar Playa, at 11.00am. Per Svensson from Ciudadanos Europeos will be the guest speaker. If you want regular updates or to discuss any question, send us an e-mail at ciudadanoseuropeosdemojacar@hotmail.com and we will answer as soon as we can.

Returning the Jamón

It all started just before Christmas when the town hall handed out hams as presents to all the councillors, both in the governing group and the opposition. Angel Medina was at that time in the opposition after the 'moción de censura' of 2005 when one of the governing party of the time took it on himself to switch sides, thus causing the fall of the government of the day - which included Angel - and allowing the opposition to take control, a new government which of course included the 'transfuga' - the 'turncoat'.
By this past Christmas, the government had changed again, although with the same mayor (now stripped of his membership card in the PSOE) and four supporters - all similarly without a party-card.
All this betrayal of the voters, together with a more than useless government, prompted Angel to return his ham and to resign as a councillor.
Angel's departure from the town hall, from his party and from politics allowed a new councillor to take the oath, an Englishman called Matthew Shatford, who promptly changed his allegiance from the GIAL party to the governing group. A pretty mess.
Angel Medina is now working with Ciudadanos Europeos and will provide experience, support and a candidature for the next local elections on May 27th of this year.
